Thanks for the information Matt. So many things going against this winter being a pleasant one. Fortunately I love the cold.

uhh, interestingly enough, southern california (Orange county, Riverside county, LA county, Inyo county, etc.), have had slightly below normal temps for most of the summer. Also the marine layer keeps coming back almost every day and that is rare this far into summer. It usually disappears after early July. It didn't get burned off today until about 1 PM...

Now I don't know what any of this means about a cold winter or whatever but it's something worth noting.

That's looking like full on La Nina. Hunches are this is a CCOOLLDD winter, given everything that's going on (negative PDO, potential for more La Nina, lots of volcanic activity, deep solar minimum)

yeah make sure you got booze for the long winter nights.

And if you're gonna be outside a lot, get a pair of bunny boots. Although I doubt the weather in Seattle proper would warrant a pair of these...but you never know. I'm sure people in more continental climate would get a lot of use out of these.

I guess this might not be the time to move to the Rocky Mountains for the first winter in a while. Oh well, got wood, propane and guns, food, the necessities for sure, and a tight warm abode. Snow might be a problem but with two 4X4 and good tires I don't think it will be too bad. At least it is different than Arizona for the winter, and the summers are much better.

Here too in the PNW! It's been raining all day today. At different rates of course but it's been a real soaker today. And for the forseeable future as well. Just look at the Pacific satellite. :baddevil:

I just hope all these systems coming out of Asia aren't carrying stuff with them.
