Worried sick about the economy ???? The coming winter????
We are screwed on a number of scales. I have concerns on multiple levels. The idiots seem to be in charge and there is nothing we can do about it.

I went to burning man
I went to Burning Man for the past week so I was out of contact with the net and off the grid.
It was great to see so much nudity and open minds connected to free spirits, 15,000 bare breasts in a bicycle parade! Almost as good as landing a 7+ pound big mouth Bass. |

outside.
but yeah, it's been quiet for a month or two.
"The rain it raineth every day, and every night also -- week in and week out, from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, there is nothing but rain, rain, rain, 'The windows of heaven are opened up.' Pluvius, grieved at some earth-giving wrong, weeps as if he never would dry up." - Overland Press (Olympia, WA), December 1861 |

Nothing really exciting going on except the solar minimum thing. I have a feeling this winter will get the board hopping.
Solar minimum must = hurricane minimum. It has been pretty boring thankfully. There has been some weird weather but nothing that just captures attention.
Yellowstone is quiet, no massive earthquakes anywhere, no tsunamis, no massive drenching rain storms, tornadoes...about this only thing I found out of place this year was the amount of lightning strikes seems to be really high.

must be the calm before the storm.

NOAA says it will. I can't decide if that forecast is based on data or wishful thinking.... |

What's that cold spot off the coast of Peru?

SOI is not even remotely indicating the presence of an El Nino... |

That's a decent string of negative SOI, and that favors El Nino conditions. |

It may have started too late in the year to have much of an impact.

depends on how much it develops...if its weak, it probably wont have much sway in the weather pattern but if its moderate, it will. |

Could the oil in the Gulf of Mexico be having a negative impact on global ocean currents?
