With the increased earthquake activity, do you think Guam is
likely to get a big jolt anytime soon? How stable do you think the Mariana subduction zone is? Guam is protected by a reef system that encircles most of the island, so I would think that it would have a tendency to reduce the chances of an Indonesian/Thailand -style disaster. What do you think?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I would think its stable because of the two types of plates that make up that zone. One is denser then the other, the less dense one being on top. |

Glad to hear it
They get a considerable amount of earthquake activity, but I think for the most part the problem remains typhons. I know they had a super typhoon back in the 1970s with wind gusts over 200 mph....that was a big one.
Interesting forum and a great site!
~Cheers
