Look at the plate around australia.....the Eurasian Plate, the Pacific Plate, the Phillipine Plate and the Australia plate....

Then look at where all the quakes are happening...its like the Phillipine plate is gonna sink.

Its like the Pacific and Eurasian plates wanna meet but that damn Phillipine plate is in the way.

It just occured to me...Japan is screwed. They are sitting on top of the three major plates where all the earthquakes are occuring....If the phillipine plate gets popped by the other two..then goodbye Tokyo. Godzilla doesnt have crap compared to these things.

And another thought...IF Japan is screwed so is our West Coast. If they (Japan or the Pacific/Phillipine plate) gets a 9.0 or bigger quake....wouldnt a Tsunami travel across the ocean...wipe out Midway, the Hawaiian Islands and California??
Oregon? Washington? Mexico?

Wouldnt that be a sight. Mt Mauna Lau erupting onto a flooded island. It would look like a smoke stack in the water.

What gets me is the quake orginated becuase of the Burma MicroPlate. We have yet to feel a major plate earthquake. If the Eurasian Plate keeps pushing against the Phillipean Plate wich is nestled against the Pacific Plate....oh man is there gonna be a major beiiatch of a quake.

The Earth's lithospere is divided into a number of plates that are constantly in motion with respect to each other, as they are carried by the movements of the semi-molten asthenosphere beneath. This map shows the directions in which the plates are moving, and convergent and divergent plate margins, where tectonic activity can create a range of features, including mountain ranges and volcanic island arcs, as well as generating earthquakes.
