Tornadoes spike in 2008

My prediction is that 2008 will break every record on the books. Hottest, coldest ... worst weather ever. So far there have been 516 tornadoes in the US, compared to the last 3 year average of 187.

Quote From Source:
The atmosphere went berserk in January and February, producing 368 tornadoes. That's way above the three-year average of 59 for those two months. March calmed down quite a bit with 148 tornadoes, but that is still above the average. April is always an active month, but could be even more so this year if the storm track stays where it is.

La Nina.

Winter tornadoes are common in La Nina years. In fact, EVERY year the US has experienced an outbreak of winter tornadoes has been a moderate-strong La Nina.

Well we had some funnel clouds here in Fort Worth a couple of days ago. I would not be shocked to see a few this afternoon or later this evening. North Central Texas had better duck and cover.

Tell me about it!

Between my own customers and moonlighting a the NWS down in Norman, I've been going crazy. They've got storm trackers geared and ready 25 miles either side of the Red River for today, and next week should prove to be a doozy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is VERY late for such a storm, yes/no?

Yes........this is much more typical of a winter type pattern. Take a look at next Thur - Sat.

Almost for got this....

And for the record.... this coming winter is going to be dangerously cold and long lasting. At least we won't need our air conditions much this summer. Just make sure your furnaces are up to snuff.

Back to work!

Well things should be interesting in Fort Worth Texas today. I have my Nikon D50 with 300mm lens ready!!

I need to charge up my Camcorder though...make sure I have blank tape inn it and have the camera sitting on a tri pod. I hate amateur videos of movies shaking and filming the ground. When I get sucked up in a vortex I want to see that vortex and have it steady.

I suspect this also. The only thing that would change my mind
is for SOL to really catch fire - so to speak.

Sounds like an Okie from OKC. Maybe it's someone at one of the TV stations...?
