Snow in Sydney

Quote From Source:
For the first time since 1836 it has snowed in Sydney - at least that's what the locals are saying.
Meteorologists say technically it was soft hail, but that didn't stop the locals making snowmen.

Locals say the winter wonderland in the suburbs of Roseville and Lindfield looked like snow to them, and children happily built snowmen and bought out their snowboards.

More snow - or soft hail - is predicted today.

I think they mean graupel/granular snow.

But yeah, wow. That's like snow/graupel falling in Los Angeles.

The low for Sydney on the 29th was 48, with a high of 55.

At that temp it probably isn't real snow. Real snow would melt. You likely had a very shallow layer of cold air and it rained in that. It was hail but not the typical hail that gets many layers and forms rock solid. Its basically small ice chunks that don't get to thaw completely before reaching the ground.

Temps were in the upper 40s to lower 50s so it's graupel at best.
