Dry, Dusty Air Lessened Intensity Of 2007 Hurricane Season
| Quote From Source: | A new analysis of environmental conditions over the Atlantic Ocean shows that hot, dry air associated with dust outbreaks from the Sahara desert was a likely contributor to the quieter-than-expected 2007 hurricane season.
The difference between the 2007 and 2005 seasons could be due in part to the westward reach of Saharan dry air and dust over the North Atlantic, according to researchers, including Bill Lau of NASA's Goddard Spaceflight Center in Greenbelt, Md., and co-author of a study on this finding published Aug. 14 in the American Geophysical Union's Geophysical Research Letters.
The study also confirms the possible role of Saharan dust in shattering predictions for the 2006 hurricane season, and has implications for more accurate predictions for future hurricane seasons.

What happened is that they tried to wish for a bigger season and their wish didn't come true so now they are fishing for excuses. How about this...
The seasons that gave us the likes of Katrina, Rita and Wilma were flukes and not a result of some great change. That is why your wishing for a bad season didn't make it so.
That is why despite wishing for a bad season 2008 is turning out to be a bust. Sure you've named 6 storms but its debatable whether all 6 should have been named and for the most part those that were named were extremely weak except one.
