First significant high, West

-

While plenty of "relatively cool air" sweeps southward to moderate broader [greater] areas / regions to its main, both, eastern and western flanks, ....

— generally, outward and "down" from its (main cool air's) main source regions / areas to the north ...

{.. these main cold source areas, beginning - at least by degrees daily, to become more of a factor where considering main cold supply, i.e. with at this point, .. being impacted by and with "areas" of - if (only) gradually, increasing darkness moving over them ..} —

@ Over the past few days .. the first truly significant "bubble" of warmer High Pressure has set up over much of the West.

— (.. Perhaps instead the second or third "only" - this current warmer season, .. if you count the few, "lesser" - substantial highs, having been generated and having impacted the greater Western Region, during June and July.)

This with this high, just today, having begun to move more eastward.

(.. i.e. with - more specifically, the general absorption of some significant cooler air which had moved southward, just to the east of the Rockies, previously.)

Note, .. that even with this area of high pressure having built to the level it has, .. that delivery of still substantially "cool" Pacific ocean current circulation down-along, and just off of the main coast, main NW corner region, .. has in fact been able to "cut" into the greater high .. somewhat, .. if not significantly.
