My Gas Bill Soars!

I was paying my bills today and I received a bit of a shock. My gas bill soared. During normal (not heating) months my gas bill runs about $40. I paid my bill today and it was $77. That represents and 85% increase in my gas bill. Yes it is Oct now and this bill was for September. But I haven't used my heat once this year. And I was short one adult for about 9 days during the billing period.

I hope this was a fluke and does not represent what will happen to my winter heating bills. During the coldest months my gas bill can run as much as $200. I can't imagine paying over $1000 total for the three coldest months here. We can afford it but there are millions of Americans that can't afford even a 10% increase in gas bills.

Anyone else notice their gas bills jump?
