BTW, when it's hot out west, I look for cold back east. Rarely is it hot EVERYWHERE in the US at the same time...

BTW, where is the warm air coming from? It's 55F right now in Seattle, and not all that much warmer to the south.

What a freaky heatwave. It will come out of nowhere and vanish after just a couple of days. They will go from 60's for highs to 90's for ONE day (surrounded by a total of three 80's days) and back to the 60's again. This is the forecast for Portland, OR. They will even hit the 50's for highs on the 22nd. Talk about strange.

And speaking of warm weather where is mine? In Indianapolis we have hit the low 80's just three times. And looking at the long range forecast that is how the month of May will end. We will hit meteorological summer having basically seen no real warmth. May should finish way below normal for us.

I hate to even think something might happen ... but my parents used to call this Earthquake Weather.

It's 80 and humid today here in San Francisco ... tomorrow it's suppose to be 90!

I think calling a 1 day heatwave a super heatwave may be a bit of an exaggeration.

well, it's gonna feel like a "super heat wave", relative to what we've had here the last few months. People are already complaining about the heat and we still have ~20 degrees to go on Friday.

It's only 73 right now at 6:48 PM and it really does feel hot.

90 in SF is pretty rare...

The high pressure came off the coast of California, moved north and slightly inland, and is now just gonna go up to the Canadian Rockies in B.C. before it comes back down the Rockies in the U.S...

I guess its track would look almost like an upside down 'u'.

Got to Linville Gorge and it was 61F. By the time we left, it was 53F. When we got to the cabin it was 48F. With a 25mph wind. It's freakin mid-May. The trees aren't even REMOTELY out with leaves yet.

Send Al Gore up here so I can kick him in the nuts....

------------------------------------

Well the high today at my house got up to about 97, which is pretty rare any time of the year. Although in May 2006, we did hit 100 or 101. It was humid that day too. Luckily, the dewpoint today was very (relative to what it has been recently relative to the temperature) low. So the relative humidity has been around 20%-30%. The dewpoint really hasn't changed much at all today. It's been around 14C/58F pretty constantly since yesterday. Now at 11PM, it's 80F...the temp that is.

You people west of the Mississippi don't know the meaning of the word "humid".

One day last August, Wunderground reported a dewpoint of 84F on the coast on NC. Creating a heat index of 125F.

You don't know humid....

I remember a few summers ago when we had a wild day of humidity. It was so bad there was water dripping from the door jam on the inside of the house. It was 80 degrees with a 79 degree dew point. It was horrible. But the very severe storm that came through later cleaned that out pretty well. What a wild storm.

Yeah, you're right. Nowhere in the west gets high (above 60-65 is rare) dewpoints. I'm glad.
