And the cover story is

US isolates traveler infected with super- TB

Quote From Source:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States has isolated a man who may have exposed fellow passengers on two transatlantic flights to a strain of tuberculosis that is extremely hard to treat, officials said on Tuesday.

It was the first time the federal government has issued such an isolation order since at least 1963, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

CDC Director Dr. Julie Gerberding said authorities were trying to notify passengers who traveled aboard Air France 385 from Atlanta to Paris on May 13 and back to the United States from Prague on Czech Air Flight 0104 on May 24.

Since the bird flu failed to cause a huge panic around the world when SARS failed they had to come up with something else. So the flavor of the year will be tb.

Okay, the man knew he had Antibiotic resistant TB before he flew and he took no precautions to protect others from the disease? Given TB is not as easy to catch as people believe, and as long as people get treatment early they should be able to fight it off fairly easily. Though it only takes one bacterium to give a person an active case of TB, unlike other diseases which usually requires 1000's of bacteria for other diseases.

But TB also sits around for decades in the lungs and just waits for the immune system to be weakened by something else and starts attacking again. It has an incredible will to survive. It's main threat is that people do not take the medications for it correctly and create these "super" antibiotic resistant strains, then spread them to others. Always, finish off your antibiotics people. There's also the problem of people thinking TB is a disease of the past and do not take it seriously. People not taking antibiotics for the full time their sick is a serious pet peeve of mine. If you want to make yourself sick fine, but do not make the bacteria stronger so that when I get sick the drug doesn't work.

Wow, I've really been in rant mode today lol.
