19 Days And Counting Without Sunspots

We are now at 20 days and counting without even a single sunspot. This is about as long as I've seen it go. We may have done it in October or November of last year but that would be about it. International Sunspot numbers were really slow in those months (under 2.0).

Check DXLC daily.

I think solar flux is about as low as it goes. Approaching 65.

Well we'll see what happens this winter. Scared one member bad enough he had his posts deleted and left. I wonder if he had a gun to his head?

The streak ended around 24 days. There is 1 sunspot visible right now.

That didn't take long. The single sunspot is gone already.

Must have because they are awake. It was not a very strong one. It should be enough to get oil prices back up though.

After the one tiny sun spot formed we went into another period of inactivity. I am renaming this thread for the current quiet period. No sense in starting a thread on the exact same subject.

Quote From Source:

At midnight the visible solar disk was spotless (31 consecutive days). The solar flare activity level was very low.

Imagine getting an X class flare in August at this time. After two years of energy being stored...it would be a beautiful storm.

I wonder if that was the one I was reading about on Spaceweather.com that was actually the international space station and not a sunspot.

The butterfly-shaped "sunspot" near the bottom of the frame is the International Space Station. "We caught it making a transit of the sun," says Stetson. "The station's silhouette was huge."
