Space rock found on collision course with Earth

oh yeah - btw -
Quote From Source:
For the first time, astronomers have found an object on a certain collision course with Earth. Fortunately, it is so small it is not expected to cause any damage, burning up in the atmosphere somewhere above northern Sudan in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. It may, however, produce a brilliant 'shooting star'.

The space rock, dubbed 2008 TC3, was first spotted on Monday in a survey by the Mt Lemmon Observatory near Tucson, Arizona.

Its brightness suggests it is no more than about 5 metres across – so small it will likely be destroyed in the atmosphere, says Andrea Milani Comparetti of the University of Pisa in Italy.

cool. I hope it doesn't bring any :alien8: with it.

"The rain it raineth every day, and every night also -- week in and week out, from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, there is nothing but rain, rain, rain, 'The windows of heaven are opened up.' Pluvius, grieved at some earth-giving wrong, weeps as if he never would dry up." - Overland Press (Olympia, WA), December 1861

Isn't that a bit of a non story? A space rock that will burn up on entry. Wow. We have thousands of those happening all the time.

The bad news in this story is that they only spotted it on Monday. This gives me no hope for the future if a bigger rock ever comes.

weelllll - the 'brightness' - 'suggests' its about 5 meters across
if its a really dark sucker maybe a bit bigger...
will the atmosphere eat a 20 foot long piece of iron ? dunno

but yeah, its not really an un-common thing.

and I doubt we hear more of it.

That is what they said in that movie "Evolution".

They should take the warning labels off of everything and let stupidity sort itself out.
