The Awful idea of electric cars

IMHO Electric cars are the worst idea I could think of. Although you are not using gasoline, where do you think electricity comes from? Fossil fuels. Although there would be know car exists the output of electricity would be much higher.

I feel the same about E-85...takes a ton of fuel to boil corn to get the ethanol out.

Roger that. I think that the whole point is that either electric cars or extracting hydrogen for fuel cells will only make sense when renewable energy sources are used - as Dan says, probably wind or solar and maybe tidal.

My main concern with many of the alternative energy ideas is the by-products of creating them...Batteries are nasty things (environmentally), and the chemicals that go into solar cells are quite dangerous as well.

I think a qeo metro is the way to go, with 54MPG, you can;t lose (unless you get hit by a semi).
