Even as winds calm, more Californians flee fires

No deaths have been reported, but police brought in trained dogs Sunday morning to search the rubble of a mobile home park where nearly 500 homes were destroyed. No bodies had been found by midday.
"This has been a very tough few days for the people of Southern California," Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said after touring damage.

California fires destroy 1,000 homes, winds ease

The fires jumped freeways and reduced mobile homes, multimillion dollar mansions and apartment blocks to ashes in about a dozen communities.
"I'm just seeing a lot of burned fields, smoke, burned down houses," said Nicole Gephardt as she looked out toward the Orange County area of Yorba Linda. "This is crazy knowing this is my community and it looks like a war zone."

Sheeeeiit, I grew up in SoCal and this happens every single year. They need to let this stuff burn off occasionally so brush build up isn't so extreme. It's crazy how they waste all their energy on fighting fires in the mountains and the desert when they should just let it go and focus more on houses and such.
It's always surprised me how often houses burn there too. Have you ever seen the typical SoCal house? They are stucco (concrete) on the sides and clay tiles instead of shingles on the roofs. I don't know how the hell they catch on fire. |

Well most of these home were mobile homes this time around. If they were mobile, why didn't they just roll them out of the way?
I swear nature despises mobile homes.
They should take the warning labels off of everything and let stupidity sort itself out.
