PNW Wind/Floods

Well, that was a little crazy. Roads and freeways were out everywhere, a friend of mine took 3 hours to get home, on what's normally a 15 minute drive because of two freeway closures from landslides.

Aberdeen, WA is cutoff from the world right now. I-5 is shut down from Olympia to Chehalis for days, Seattle to Portland is not possible via I-5.

Large swath's of Seattle and the surrounding areas were flooded. Bremerton, WA got 10.76 inches of rain yesterday. Seattle got 4.

Aberdeen had at least 81 mph sustained winds, and may have been higher, but the wind meter broke.

All in all, I've seen worse storms, but this was bad, especially for the people in Southwest Washington state. They get some fierce winds. I like to go down near Aberdeen to Ocean Shores wind it's windy and stay on the beach in a hotel and watch it. I caught a great storm that way last winter.

National Guard evacuates flooded Oregon town

Quote From Source:
PORTLAND, Ore. - National Guard troops evacuated residents in a flooded town Tuesday and tens of thousands of residents remained without power after back-to-back storms pounded the Pacific Northwest, killing five people.

Troops with the Oregon Air National Guard used inflatable rafts to evacuate flooded residents in Vernonia, a mountain timber town on the Nehalem River, about 35 miles northwest of Portland.

They get storms like this and life goes on. Florida gets a storm like that and life as they know it ends for days or even weeks on end.

Houses were destroyed by the wind, let alone flooding. Someone I know in Long Beach, WA said they unofficially had 90+ mph sustained winds. They're not just going on after this one. SW Washington, NW Oregon were trashed.

Joy. Stormy weather is on the way!

So to leave only the relevant parts of the song:
I see earthquakes and lightning.
...
I hear hurricanes a'blowin'.
...
I fear rivers overflowing.
...
Looks like we're in for nasty weather.

I'm dreaming of a wet Christmas, just likes the ones I used to know.

BTW, I've never had a white Christmas.

My dad remembers one. It just doesn't snow here. The winter started off with a little snow, but then lots of typical Seattle winter days, wet, highs in the mid 40's, lows in the upper 30's. We got a ton more snow last year then I remember since I was a kid, so we'll see. It's been getting colder each year here, and the snow has increased each of the last 2 years
