Fierce Arctic storm lashes California

Quote From Source:
A fierce arctic storm lashed the California coast Friday, threatening to paralyze the mountains with deep snow and bring devastating rain to a coastal landscape already charred by wildfires.

The northern half of the state was being hit with strong rain, 85-mph wind and heavy snow in the Sierra Nevada, National Weather Service forecaster Andrew Rorke said.

In Southern California, the storm was gathering strength off the coast and was expected to strike the region by mid-afternoon, Rorke said.

"We're watching it really blossom on satellite," he said.

We're getting hammered by it too, although not as bad. We had some heavy wind and rain last night, w/ more coming tonight and tomorrow, and a chance of snow on Sunday!

I was hoping to hit some bike trails tomorrow, but I'm not sure I'm going to want to.

It not too bad in LA yet. It's a bit windy and a bit drizzly. I'm just about to take a flight so I hope it doesn't pick up just yet.
We definately need the rain.
Watch for run off and mud slides from the burn areas though.

Is it still burning over there, or do they have the fires put out now?

Still More Rain in Sodden California

Quote From Source:
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Fast-moving thunderstorms brought new waves of rain on Sunday to Southern California, following days of drenching weather and heavy mountain snowfall.

Up to 2 inches of rain had fallen by early afternoon in valley and coastal areas since nightfall Saturday, with about double that in the mountains, the National Weather Service said.

"We're not completely done with this storm yet," forecaster Steve Vanderurg said.

Officials said the rain brought a threat of serious slides on hillsides stripped of vegetation by last year's wildfires. Mud and minor rock slides prompted authorities to shut a highway through a San Diego-area burned between Ramona and Escondido.

They should rename this state "Little India"
First its major drought and burns down...now they cannot handle all the water. They just need a major earthquake after a few more good saturations. Then they could have liquifaction...maybe that will bring the house prices down when they disappear.

They should take the warning labels off of everything and let stupidity sort itself out.
