We're not even close to that. 60F here today, 70F tomorrow, then back to normal (low-mid 50s). It was a very, very nice Sunday afternoon here in North Carolina.

No Arctic air in the long term forecast either.

The hell we don't. How much snow have they had? 2'? We shrug that off like an annoying fly.

I was in Durham, NC a few years ago when we had a surprise 18" snow with 4' drifts. That was within 2" of the all time record. Never lost power, water or natural gas. Main roads were cleared completely within 48 hours. Airport shutdown less than 24 hours. It was a 1 day annoyance.

We can handle it. No problem....

Quote From Source:
In Idahna, Ore., there is so much snow, residents' roofs are starting to collapse. The mayor has requested that Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski declare the area a state of emergency and send help.

Eighteen inches of snow fell in the last 24 hours on top to 6 feet of snow already there, Idahna Mayor Karen Clark said Sunday.

There is literally nowhere to put the snow.

"We have buildings with snow on them in danger of collapsing. Snow around doors in danger of bursting, some homes have already sustained damage," Clark said.

The town does not have the resources to deal with so much snow, according to the mayor.

thats how it is here. had to clear 2 feet of my church roof the other day...two days later, u cant tell i cleared anything off. the city is urging people to clear their roofs for most of them r at the breaking point. we have no where to put the snow anymore. the track of land they normally ship it too is full and they r now looking for other places. the streets r now one lane because u can only pile up snow so far on the sides before it starts caving back in. cars r under piles of snow so high that u cant even tell there is a car under them. we have even had avalanches in town which never happens. its been truly an amazing winter!

our winter this season has been that of some place 3000 feet higher in elevation for this area. its amazing how quickly a climate can change for a winter. i think during the last ice age, snow levels dropped something like 3000 feet or something like that. it really makes u think...
