Snow in Fort Worth
Funny, we were not supposed to get snow until Thursday evening. We had snow this morning. And it is getting deeper than I can ever remember.

I dunno but its still coming down and we are only 1/2 inch away from the all time record of 7.8 inches. That may not sound like a lot to most people but we don't have snow shovels, and snow blowers and we are not really prepared for snow like this. It is all new to me. I fell like I am back in Denver.

11.2 Inches!!
How about 11.2 inches?
1:18 a.m.: The National Weather Service has issued its official snow total for Thursday, as measured at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport reporting station: 11.2 inches. It eclipses the previous 24-hour snowfall record by 3.7 inches. So far this season, we've received a total of 14.4 inches, the third-highest winter total for North Texas since records have been kept. At 1 a.m., all North Texas reporting stations except Grand Prairie and Mesquite were still reporting a light snowfall, with temperatures ranging between 30 and 34 degrees. WFAA

Snowfall sets single-day record in DFW
| Quote From Source: |
North Texas hasn't seen a winter this white in 32 years.
The 9.4 inches of snow that had fallen by 9 p.m. Thursday at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport topped the previous record for snowfall in one day of 7.8 inches recorded in 1917 and 1964.
Thursday's snow also catapulted seasonal accumulation to 12.6 inches, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
That ranks as the fourth-snowiest season ever.
It's far below the 17.6 inches that fell in 1977-78, however, which is still the snowiest on record in Dallas-Fort Worth.
That year, 13.5 inches fell in February alone, also a record.
As snow appeared to taper off Thursday night, the winter of 2009-10 seemed unlikely to rise on the list. The system was supposed to move out of North Texas on Thursday night.
The fourth-snowiest season had been 1976-77, when 10.4 inches fell.
The ingredients for a snowy season are simple: multiple upper-level storm systems supported by temperatures low enough to turn moisture to snow.
Those two elements have collided more than once over North Texas this season.
"It's definitely one of those winters," said Bill Bunting, a meteorologist with the weather service. "You never really know when you'll get one."
Staff writer Mitch Mitchell contributed to this report.

Snowfall Shatters Record, Leaves 180,000 Without Power
| Quote From Source: | Large, fluffy snowflakes fell heavily across North Texas for about 24 hours Thursday, bringing record snowfall that sailed past the previous all-time one-day record.
A new record of 12.5 inches of snow in a 24-hour period was set at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (11.2 on Thursday) -- and flakes were still coming down after midnight. The previous daily record was 7.8 inches on Jan. 15, 1964, and Jan. 14, 1917 and the previous 24-hour record was 12.1 inches. The total for this winter, so far, is 15.7 inches, the second highest recorded in North Texas history. The highest recorded snowfall for a winter season was in 1977-78 with 17.6 inches of snow.
The snowfall forced the closure and delays of hundreds of schools and businesses on both Thursday and Friday. Now that the storm has passed, the damage assessment can begin.
