BATON ROUGE, La. -- The deadline to apply for disaster assistance is quickly approaching. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is encouraging those affected by either Hurricanes Katrina or Rita to register for assistance by April 10.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- To help meet the ongoing needs of those who suffered damage from the severe storms and tornadoes, which struck March 11-13, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announce that two Disaster Recovery Centers will open in Springfield on Tuesday, April 4.
