The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced this week that it will spend $250 million to establish and operate two new Bioenergy Research Centers to accelerate basic research on the development of cellulosic ethanol and other biofuels.

This conference will bring together industry experts, manufacturers, researchers, and end users for a balanced, comprehensive discussion of opportunities and challenges surrounding implementing ethanol as a viable alternative to traditional fossil fuels. Participants will examine ethanol production forecasts, current market challenges, and technology breakthroughs. In addition, the conference will facilitate discussion of market structure, investment, and capital expense. Intertech-Pira's Ethanol Summit 2006 will provide a comprehensive assessment of the technology, marketing and investment outlook for ethanol while also addressing obstacles as the US and other countries struggle to find clean, green alternatives to oil and also relief from dependence on the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
