NASA Post-hurricane Katrina Images Available On Google Earth (View Original Story)

NASA and the US Geological Survey (USGS) have published detailed aerial imagery of the impact of Hurricane Katrina on the Internet viewable on Google Earth. The images show changes that Katrina made to the Gulf coast from Panama City, Fla. to New Orleans, La. The general public can now go online and see before and after images of Katrina's wrath.

A study by NASA and university scientists is shedding new light on a mysterious, cyclical wave in Earth's atmosphere that at times profoundly affects our planet's weather and climate. This slow, eastward-moving wave of clouds, rainfall and large-scale atmospheric circulation anomalies spans nearly half of Earth's equator, primarily over the Indian Ocean and western Pacific.
