The recent dedication of the Maple Ridge Wind Farm marks the completion of the first of two phases in which 140 1.65-megawatt (MW) Vestas turbines will generate 231 MW. Additional turbines under construction for the second phase will bring the total to 195 turbines producing 320 MW of electricity, enough to provide two percent of the state's residential power needs.

ACCIONA has been selected to build and operate a 62-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) solar plant in southern Portugal, near Moura. With an investment exceeding Euros 200 million [US$254 million], its construction will be carried out in two stages. ACCIONA Solar will be in charge of the turnkey construction of the plant.

SunWize announces acceptance of their Grid-Tie Systems (GTS) by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as part of the USDA Rural Development Utilities Programs under Small Photovoltaic Electricity Generating Systems. Evaluation was a cooperative effort of the Sandia National Laboratories, the Florida Solar Energy Center and the USDA Rural Development Electric Programs. The systems are acceptable for use on the utility systems of USDA Rural Development Electric Programs Borrowers and are eligible for financing by the Electric Programs. The Electric Programs make insured loans and guarantees of loans to nonprofit and cooperative associations, public bodies, and other utilities. Insured loans primarily finance the construction of facilities for the distribution of electric power in rural areas. "We are proud our solar electric grid-tie systems are eligible to be a part of this program," stated Russ Campbell, SunWize senior product manager.
