This NOAA satellite image taken Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 02:15 PM EDT shows Tropical Storm Chantal about 300 miles south of Halifax Nova Scotia. Farther south, a low pressure system is producing widespread clouds off the Mid-Atlantic with its cold front extending southwestward through northern Florida then curving back to the Southern Plains. Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are developing along the front across the southern states.
