Konarka Technologies, Inc., developer of Power Plastic, a material that converts light to energy, yesterday announced it has raised $45 million in private capital financing. The financing was led by Mackenzie Financial Corporation, a leading investment management firm with over $60 billion in assets under management, and was co-led by existing investor, Good Energies, a leading investor in the renewable energy industry.

Macy's is launching a program to install solar electric power systems at 28 California stores, including 15 in Southern California. SunPower Corporation, a Silicon Valley-based manufacturer of high-efficiency, solar cells, solar panels and solar systems, is partnering with Macy's to design and install the systems.

A 2.7 KW array of framed thin film A-Si (amorphous silicon) solar electric modules was recently commissioned in Mattituck, NY. This installation is the first of its kind for Long Island and received funding from LIPA's solar pioneering program. The solar electric system was installed by Suffolk Solar Systems, Inc. using products supplied by Aten Solar Corporation; systems integrators specializing in A-Si deployments.
