Source: Posted: 09-03-2007 at 09:01:00
U.S. Gulf of Mexico oil and natural gas producers were monitoring powerful Hurricane Felix as it churned through the Caribbean Sea on Sunday, but none had reported reduced offshore production or evacuated workers to onshore locations.

New Trend - The First Wind Turbine On The Block (View Original Story)
Source: Posted: 09-03-2007 at 12:00:53
MARIETTA, GEORGIA - It may be the first in this Atlanta suburb, but definitely isn't the last. Not in this Georgia suburb or elsewhere. That's because the small-scale residential wind generator installed last week in the side yard of Christine and Curt Mann will generate between 200 to 400 kWh a month on average, powering most of the Mann home and eliminating as much CO2 from the atmosphere as an acre of mature, healthy trees. That kind of savings has viral appeal.

MARIETTA, GEORGIA - It may be the first in this Atlanta neighborhood, but definitely isn't the last. Not in Georgia or elsewhere. That's because the small-scale residential wind generator installed last week in the side yard of Christine and Curt Mann, in one of Atlanta's oldest neighborhoods, will generate between 200 to 400 kWh a month on average, powering most of the Mann home and eliminating as much CO2 from the atmosphere as an acre of mature, healthy trees. That kind of savings, as marketers say, has 'viral' appeal.

Dutch Build Towering Wind Turbines Out At Sea (View Original Story)
Source: Posted: 09-03-2007 at 06:01:05
IJMUIDEN, Netherlands - There is no shortage of wind in the densely-populated Netherlands but there is a shortage of space and in a nation which likes its houses small and its gardens cosy, opposition to wind farms is immense. That is why a new Dutch wind farm is being built so far out to sea it is barely visible on the horizon, reducing the visual impact of its 60 turbines to virtually nil whilst at the same time harnessing higher offshore wind speeds.

Chicago: Nation's Largest School Bus Company Switches Entire Fleet To Bio-Fuel (View Original Story)
Source: Posted: 09-03-2007 at 09:00:56
CHICAGO - The nation's largest independent school bus company, the Cook Illinois Corporation in Chicago, is switching its entire fleet of school buses to burn bio diesel fuel. Biodiesel is a cleaner-burning diesel fuel made from natural, renewable sources such as vegetable oils. In addition, company officials will kick off a new Clean Air Club for kids and a new website that teaches kids about the importance of reducing air pollution. Cook-Illinois is now the largest school bus fleet in Illinois and the largest independently owned bus company in the country to use this new fuel.
