The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced a solicitation for up to $10 billion in federal loan guarantees for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. This marks the second round of solicitations for DOE's Loan Guarantee Program, which encourages the commercial use of new or significantly improved energy technologies.

Raser Technologies Inc. announced that it has begun taking delivery of the UTC Power geothermal power generating units ordered for the first commercial scale geothermal power plant to be built in the state of New Mexico. The New Mexico site is a well studied, known geothermal resource which has provided direct use geothermal fluids to a local greenhouse operation for many years.
