Nordex AG plans to spend approximately US $100 million to establish its own U.S. production facilities for wind turbines and rotor blades. The first U.S. produced 2.5-megawatt (MW) wind turbines could enter the U.S. market as early as 2009.

WindConnect has won a contract for construction work on the second phase of the Locust Ridge Wind Farm, located in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. When complete, Locust Ridge II is expected to have a peak capacity of 102 megawatts (MW).

During their 2007 spring summit, the European heads of state and government agreed on an ambitious and legally binding target: In 2020, the share of renewable energies in the EU's overall energy consumption shall reach at least 20% -- up from 8.5% now. They agreed to strive for this target in a cost efficient way. The European Commission was mandated to prepare a proposal for a European "Directive on the Promotion of Energy from Renewable Sources" not later than end of 2007.

enXco Signs Turbine Procurement Agreement with GE Energy (View Original Story)

enXco - an EDF Energies Nouvelles Company has announced its second agreement in recent months with GE Energy to purchase turbines for new wind projects. Under the agreement, enXco will purchase 200 turbines representing 300 MW from GE Wind. The 1.5 MW turbines are scheduled for delivery in 2010 validating enXco's strong foundation and growth in wind energy development. In December, enXco announced a similar agreement to purchase 300 MW from GE for delivery in 2009
