Ore. adopts tough emission standards

| Capital Press: The Oregon Environmental Quality Commission on Dec. 22 adopted temporary rules strengthening the state's vehicle emission standards – in the process, triggering the adoption of similar tough standards in Washington state. The Washington Legislature in May approved the stricter standards, but made their adoption contingent upon Oregon accepting them.
